Uzu no Oka Restaurant
The restaurant on the second floor of the Uzu-no-oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Hall serves seasonal island foods. In early summer, sea urchins, Spanish mackerel, and hamo (eel) are all available.
Japanese Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus niphonius)
Spanish mackerel fishing has long been popular on the island. In spring, fall, and winter, the fat is abundant, and the meat tastes like medium fatty tuna.
Spanish mackerel, which is said to be fast in coming, is served raw only in its place of origin!
